Dana Kaplinski, VP Engineering and FAA Governance

Dana Kaplinski is the Vice President of Engineering and FAA Governance for Kaman Air Vehicles, based in Bloomfield, Connecticut, and Kaman Precision Products, based in Middletown, Connecticut. Ms. Kaplinski is responsible for leading new product development and defining technology strategy and innovation to drive profitable sales growth for both businesses. Ms. Kaplinski joined Kaman Precision Products in 2013 as the Director of Business Development and has held positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Engineering. During her tenure as Vice President of Business Development, Kaman was awarded a $324M Direct Commercial Sale order for the Joint Programmable Fuze, the largest single order in the history of the Program, and more than $10M in development funding from USG and OEM customers. 

Ms. Kaplinski has over 25 years of business development, product management, and engineering management experience. In her previous role at UTC Power, a division of United Technologies Corporation (UTC), she had P&L responsibility for the transportation fuel cell business. Her team won United Technologies’ 2011 Rentschler Memorial Corporate Award for outstanding improvements in fuel cell product quality, reliability, and service, and secured more than $10M in new sales. Prior to joining UTC, Ms. Kaplinski was employed by General Motors (GM) as Assistant Chief Engineer, responsible for directing product development of a hybrid powertrain system manufactured by GM for use in vehicles produced by GM and other automotive OEMs.

Ms. Kaplinski began her career in engineering at Saturn Corporation, a division of General Motors, and transferred to General Motors Powertrain Division, where she held positions of increasing responsibility in new product development, program management, production support, and engineering. She was a member of both the GM and UTC Patent Review Boards and has developed and executed IP licensing agreements with domestic and international companies.

While at UTC, Ms. Kaplinski was a 2008 Connecticut Technology Council Women of Innovation finalist for Large Business Innovation and Leadership. She earned her MBA at Michigan State University and holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.
