Making green work for the Army
A large Army Depot responsible for overhauling tactical wheeled vehicles sought to eliminate dangerous solvents on their premises. Throughout the depot, mechanics used solvents for component cleaning, degreasing, paint stripping, parts washing and vehicle & equipment maintenance. These solvents contained Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and represented significant fire hazards and potential environmental and health risks.
WALTER and Kaman surpassed the depot’s expectations by providing substitutes that were not only safer, but cleaned faster with less hassle. Forty solvent washers were replaced with WALTER's Bio-Circle – a VOC-free parts washer that eliminates solvent waste.
Next, brake cleaners were replaced with WALTER’s Slap Slot PL – a safer cleaner/degreaser that cleans faster and doesn’t damage plastic parts. For every solvent product including isopropyl alcohol, anti-spatter, and even WD-40, WALTER substituted a green product that just worked better.
The Army saved over $20,000 per year in disposal costs, parts damage and solvent usage, and succeeded in providing a healthier and greener working environment with products from WALTER.
