Kaman Aircraft Corporation is founded in Windsor Locks, CT
1957
Kaman Nuclear is founded in Albuquerque, NM. This subsidiary would later become Kaman Sciences.
1961
AirKaman, Inc. is founded in Windsor Locks, CT, a provider of fixed-base operations at airports.
1962
Texas Bio-Nuclear of Austin, TX is acquired.
1962
Power Transmission Systems, Inc. of NJ is acquired.
1964
AviDyne Research, Inc. of Burlington MA is acquired.
1965
Kaman launches the KAcarb products division, which will later become Kamatics.
1965
Kaman sells Power Transmission Systems, Inc. of NJ.
1966
Ovation Instruments is founded upon the invention of the Ovation Guitar.
1967
The acquisitions of Coast Wholesale Music Company of Los Angeles and Coast Wholesale Music Company of San Francisco add the music distribution business to the company's Ovation Guitar manufacturing operations.
1967
AirKaman of Omaha, NE is formed.
1968
AirKaman of Jacksonville, Florida is formed.
1968
Kaman Sciences is formed out of four scientific divisions: Kaman Nuclear, AviDyne, Kaman Systems Centers, and SEA.
1970
National Music String, Co of Brunswick, NJ is acquired.
1971
Kaman initiates what would eventually become Kaman Industrial Technologies when it acquires Reliable Bearing and Supply Co. of San Bernardino, CA and Western Bearings Inc. of Salt Lake City, UT.

 

 

This marks the beginning of the industrial distribution business.

C. Bruno and Son, a national musical instrument distributor in CT, GA, IL, and TX is acquired.
1972
BITCO of Spokane, WA, an industrial products and services distributor is acquired.
1973
Kaman's KAcarb products division becomes Kamatics Corporation of Bloomfield, CT.

All Bearing Service, Inc. of California and Washington is acquired.

Kaman acquires Nuclear Controls and Electronics of Salt Lake City, UT.

Kaman continues to build its industrial distribution business. Everett Transmission & Rubber Company of Washington. Syracuse Bearing of Syracuse, New York and Strum and Drum Inc. of Wheeling, IL are acquired.
1976
Kaman acquires Keystone Bearing & Supply Company of Pennsylvania.
1977
Kaman acquires Ventura County Bearing House of California, Mill and Industrial Supply Company of Pennsylvania, and Robert J. Ulpinger, Inc. of Syracuse, NYfor the industrial distribution business.
1978
Kaman acquires Bearing Service and Supply, Inc. of Virginia and Minnesota; Bayshore Service and Supply of Minnesota; Winn Supply Company of California and Industrial Service, Inc. of Colorado.

Kaman acquires Bearing House of Santa Maria, Inc. of Santa Barbara, CA; Coastal Plans, Inc. of Idaho; Valley Bearings and Power Transmission, Inc. of Sacramento, CA; Star Machinery of Portland, OR; and O.J. Industries, Inc. of Salt Lake City, UT.
