Paul R. Kuhn Elected Chairman of Kaman Corp., Succeeding Company Founder Charles H. Kaman; Shareholders Elect Directors
BLOOMFIELD, Conn., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaman Corporation (NASDAQ:KAMNA)
today announced the election of President and Chief Executive Officer Paul R. Kuhn to the additional position of Chairman by the company's board of directors. He succeeds company founder Charles H. Kaman, who did not stand for reelection due a continuing health condition. The board elected Mr. Kaman to the newly created, lifetime honorary position of Chairman Emeritus of the board.
The board also elected C. William Kaman II, Mr. Kaman's oldest son and a director of the company, to serve as vice chairman. He is chairman and chief executive officer of AirKaman of Jacksonville, Inc., in Florida.
At the company's annual meeting held here today, Kuhn told shareholders, "Charlie Kaman is one of the true pioneers of the American aviation industry. He has dedicated his life to aviation and to public service, and his lasting achievements have been recognized by the awards and honors bestowed upon him by government, industry and academia. His pioneering contributions to the aviation industry and to society at large will always be remembered as will the affection and high regard he always felt for his employees over these many years. We wish him well."
Kuhn, 59, joined Kaman as president and chief executive officer in 1999. Prior to joining Kaman he was senior vice president, operations, aerospace engine businesses, for Coltec Industries, Inc., now part of Goodrich Corporation.
Shareholders Elect Directors
At the annual meeting, shareholders re-elected the following directors: Brian E. Barents, president and chief executive officer of Galaxy Aerospace Co., LP; E. Reeves Callaway III, president, Callaway Advanced Technology Corp.; Frank C. Carlucci, chairman, The Carlyle Group; Laney J. Chouest, owner/manager, Edison Chouest Offshore, Inc.; John A. DiBiaggio, president, Tufts University; Huntington Hardisty, Admiral, Retired U. S. Navy and former president, Kaman Aerospace International Corp.; C. William Kaman II, chairman and chief executive officer, AirKaman of Jacksonville, Inc.; Eileen S. Kraus, retired chairman, Connecticut Fleet National Bank; Paul R. Kuhn, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Kaman Corp.; Hartzel Z. Lebed, retired president, CIGNA Corp.; Walter H. Monteith, Jr., retired chairman, Southern New England Telecommunications Corp.; and Wanda Lee Rogers, president and chief executive officer, Rogers Helicopters, Inc.
Shareholders also authorized the board to elect one additional director during the ensuing year.
In other business, shareholders appointed KPMG LLP as the corporation's independent auditors.
