The Kaman Aerospace Corporation had its origin in the founding of Kaman Aircraft Corporation in 1945 by helicopter pioneer and entrepreneur, Charles H. Kaman. Over the years the company became known for its innovative rotary-wing design concepts and went on to build many helicopters, setting records and achieving world firsts.

Today the company manufactures maritime helicopters for the international military market and medium-to-heavy lift helicopters primarily for the commercial market. The company is a subcontractor providing aircraft structures and components for Boeing commercial airliners, the C-17 military transport, and many other aircraft.

Kaman Aerospace also produces advanced technology products, including:

  • safe, arm and fuzing devices for Navy missile systems (along with its sister company, Kaman Dayron, which produces fuzes for Army and Air Force bomb programs)
  • high reliability memory systems for airborne, shipboard, and ground-based programs
  • precision non-contact measuring systems for industrial and scientific use
  • and advanced electro-optic systems for defense applications
