Under the administrative direction of the General Manager or designee with minimal supervision, responsible for the overall supervision of all business  assuring the highest level of quality Delivery, customer satisfaction and financial performance.  Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead all departments associated with assigned area of responsibility.  Departments include, but are not limited to Production, Quality, Supply Chain (Supply Chain consisting of Purchasing, Material Control and Master Scheduling), Engineering, Cost Estimating, Continuous Improvement, Program Management and Industrial Engineering. Provide strong leadership and technical guidance to subordinate supervisors and/or group leaders.  Maintain sufficient, adequately trained staff and address personnel situations in a timely manner consistent with company policy and federal/state law. Drive accountability and results across the organization to meet or exceed organizational goals.
  • Initiate plans and processes which leverage continuous improvement methodologies in order to minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment facilities, materials, and capital.
  •  Develop, monitor and maintain production schedules, cost and quality for all areas of responsibility. Consistently meet all delivery dates for all customers as well as support delivery requirements.   Assess need for corrective action on an on-going basis; inform management of schedule slippages, cost overruns or other problem areas in a timely manner to prevent crisis situations. Develop mitigation plans as required and applicable metrics to monitor and manage progress towards resolution
  • Work collaboratively with Program Management to understand the customer needs, ensuring that Cost, Quality and Schedule requirements are met or exceeded. Collaborate with other departments including sister divisions as required to overcome obstacles.
  • Diagnose Cost, Quality and Schedule problems within all areas of responsibility.   Formulate and implement successful corrective action plans, develop mitigation plans and reverse adverse trends as expeditiously as possible.
  • Develop and manage direct & overhead budgetary and schedule requirements within all areas of responsibility.  Plan, schedule and assign work within all areas of responsibility. Work collaboratively with Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, Engineering and Business Development to ensure all needs are communicated and coordinated to support requirements.
  • Develop and effectively communicate company goals and objectives with all levels of subordinates by being a visible, active presence. Guide and coach subordinate supervision in personnel matters and provide a means for needed training especially cross training within departments.  Provide equitable and fair treatment of all employees within jurisdiction by directing the hiring, training, placement, progression, rating, termination and other changes in employees’ status in compliance with federal and state laws, company policy and the company’s affirmative action plan.
  • Champion and drive the company’s Continuous Improvement (Lean), Quality initiatives and Innovation to ensure we are as competitive as we can be.  Remain current with “state of the art” equipment and processes.
  • Coordinate with Facilities in the preparation of specifications as to quantity, delivery and service required for the purchase of production machinery and equipment to meet production schedules, coordinate the installation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment used in manufacturing processes.
  • Develop production schedules and associated cost estimates for existing programs and for new business opportunities.   Support all facets of new bids and proposals and support marketing efforts for follow-on and new business.
  • Establish, maintain and improve the manufacturing organization required to achieve company objectives. Develop mitigation plans, as necessary, for all areas of responsibility.
  • Remain current in state-of-the-art manufacturing processes.

  • Broad knowledge of a general technical field such as manufacturing.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of manufacturing and information systems functions.
  • Working knowledge of MRP II based manufacturing control systems. 
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills.
  • B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, or equivalent experience.
  •  Knowledge of the following: raw materials, quality control programs, business, finance and management principles, human resources principles and practices, machines and tools, engineering and technology principles and practices, strong computer skills.
  • Over 7-15 years up to and including 10 years of experience in manufacturing related discipline with a minimum of 5-10 years experience in supervision.
