Kaman offers a range of highly effective specialty products for the rotorcraft market. These include:
A rotor blade Erosion Protection coating system (Hontek) has been developed and implemented on more than 2,000 UH-60 Blackhawk main rotor blades to date. The system is applicable to any rotor blade that undergoes erosion due to exposure to severe sand or rain erosion environments. Life cycle cost savings of the coating, as compared to other competitive products, has been shown to be exceptional.
- The U-MARK Unit Aerial Recovery Kit was developed for the U.S. Army as an effective means of aerial recovery of disabled helicopters. Today, the U.S. Army deploys U-MARK systems to retrieve downed helicopters overseas.
- The Forest Penetrator Rescue Seat was designed to save lives. It's capable of rescuing up to three people (600 lbs.) at one time, including water rescues. The folded seat is lowered on a rescue hoist and its narrow cylindrical profile prevents it from hanging up on obstructions.
Helicopters may be refueled in-flight with the Aerial Refueling Probe, a 30-foot composite tube with an inner metal fuel transfer tube. The assembly includes a standard mechanical refueling nozzle at the forward end and a check valve at the aft end, enabling in-flight helicopter refueling.
