Webster Field, Md., July 31, 2012 – For the second time this year, the U.S. Marine Corps has approved the deployment extension of K-MAX Cargo UAS, the first unmanned helicopter to deliver cargo and resupply troops in a combat zone.
WASHINGTON, May 9, 2012 – Two unmanned K-MAX helicopters have delivered more than one million pounds in less than four months in support of the U.S. Marine Corps in Afghanistan and will remain in theater until September on a deployment extension.

Now operational in Afghanistan, the unmanned K-MAX is resupplying troops and augmenting Marine Corps ground and air logistics.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 1 flew an unmanned K-MAX to deliver 3,500 pounds of food and supplies to a forward operating base in Afghanistan. This was the first resupply mission for the platform developed by Team K-MAX.
Afghanistan - On Dec. 15 and 16, the Marine Corps flew two unmanned K-MAX helicopter test flights.
