Ian K. Walsh
President and Chief Executive Officer
Ian K. Walsh jointly serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors, President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Walsh has served as Kaman’s President and Chief Executive Officer since joining the Company on September 8, 2020.
Prior to this role, Mr. Walsh served as Chief Operating Officer at REV Group, Inc., a leading designer, manufacturer, and distributor of specialty vehicles and related aftermarket parts and services. Prior to joining REV Group, Mr. Walsh worked at Textron, Inc., where he most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of TRU Simulation and Training. Mr. Walsh’s career with Textron began in 1999 at Bell Helicopter and progressed through leadership roles of increasing responsibility, including Senior Vice President and General Manager of Lycoming Engines and Senior Vice President and General Manager of Textron’s Weapon & Sensor Systems business.
Mr. Walsh is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and achieved the prestigious International Shingo Silver Medallion for Operational Excellence for his work at Lycoming Engines. Prior to joining Textron, he served as an officer and naval aviator in the U.S. Marine Corps. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College, a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Russ Bartlett was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer effective January 4, 2021.
Prior to this role, Mr. Bartlett served as President and CEO of Textron Airborne Solutions, President of Beechcraft Defense Company, and a Captain in the U.S. Navy. He has an extremely strong professional career in aerospace and defense, commercial, and general aviation, as well as a distinguished military career retiring from the U.S. Navy as a Captain in 2008. Throughout his career, Mr. Bartlett has continuously demonstrated leadership, innovation, exceptional talent and accomplishments in strategic planning, financial management, international engagement, and personnel management.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, a Master of Arts (MS) in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College graduating as the President’s Honor Graduate. Mr. Bartlett’s educational background also includes tenure at Northwestern University and Duke University.
James G. Coogan
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
James G. Coogan was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer effective July 8, 2021.
In this role, Mr. Coogan oversees financial reporting, accounting, tax, treasury, risk management, and financial planning and analysis. He will also continue to oversee the Company’s investor relations and corporate development functions.
Mr. Coogan’s tenure at Kaman includes serving as the Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Development, Vice President – Investor Relations, and Assistant Vice President – SEC Compliance and External Reporting. Since joining the company in 2008 as Manager of External Reporting and SEC Compliance, Mr. Coogan has enhanced Kaman’s SEC reporting systems and controls. In 2010, he was named to the inaugural class of the Kaman Leadership Development Program, which recognizes outstanding leadership potential. Mr. Coogan played an integral role in Kaman’s acquisition of Bal Seal Engineering in 2020 and the divesture of Kaman Distribution Group in 2019.
Mr. Coogan has also held positions with Ann Taylor, Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He received his Masters of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management, and his bachelor’s degree in business administration and his masters of science in accounting from the University of Connecticut.
Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer and Assistant Secretary
Shawn Lisle was appointed as Senior Vice President and General Counsel in December 2012. As Kaman’s chief legal officer, Mr. Lisle is responsible for leading and advising the company as to its legal, compliance and regulatory activities and initiatives around the world. Prior to his appointment as General Counsel, he was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel.
Mr. Lisle is a highly experienced lawyer and business leader with a diverse practice background spanning more than two decades. He previously served as legal counsel for Fortune 500 companies, including International Paper Company in Memphis, TN and Dana Corporation in Toledo, OH. Mr. Lisle also was in private practice at the law firm of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP. His government service includes tenure as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division in Washington, D.C. and as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in Hawaii. Mr. Lisle’s military career includes active duty service in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, and reserve service in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
Mr. Lisle received his Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude, from The University of Akron School of Law. He also earned a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Taxation from Capital University Law School. Mr. Lisle holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with honors from Westminster College.
Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Raf Cohen serves as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Kaman Corporation. Mr. Cohen has previously served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Babcock Power, Chief Information Officer at Gerber Scientific, Director of CIO Advisory Services at Blum Shapiro, Corporate Director of Information Technology at PerkinElmer and Vice President of Information Technology at Stanley Black & Decker.
Mr. Cohen started his career with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) where he focused primarily working with companies in the manufacturing and distribution industries. During his IT consulting tenure, he worked with a number of Fortune 1000 companies around the world planning and leading large complex systems’ initiatives.
Mr. Cohen earned his Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Connecticut and his Bachelors of Science degree from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer
Megan Morgan serves as Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer for Kaman Corporation. She previously lead Kaman Aerospace Group as the Vice President of Human Resources. Prior to joining Kaman in 2018, she developed global Human Resources experiences within the manufacturing and aerospace industries, most recently with Legrand Electrical Wiring Systems Division. Ms. Morgan previously served in a number of Human Resources positions with increasing resposibilities at Barnes Group, Inc. and PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she began her career in Assurance services.
In addition to her extensive HR and global business partnering skills, Ms. Morgan is also a skilled continuous improvement practitioner. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Villanova University and a Master’s degree in Organization Development from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer
Kristen M. Samson, serves as Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Kaman Corporation. Ms. Samson previously served as Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Textron Systems, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at TRU Simulation + Training and Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Lycoming Engines.
Ms. Samson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in consumer and business-to-business marketing, communications, branding and product management. Ms. Samson is a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has completed Executive Leadership programs at Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis
Lisa Barry was appointed Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis effective May, 2020. Lisa advanced through various finance positions at Kaman, including Director, Finance and Contracts at Kaman Air Vehicles and Manager, Finance at Kaman Aerospace Group. She started her career at Hamilton Sundstrand as a Government Accounting Associate and advanced over a number of positions of increasing responsibility at United Technologies, including Financial Reporting and Consolidation Specialist and Subsidiary Financial Controller, before joining Kaman in October 2015. Lisa holds a Masters of Business Administration from Quinnipiac University and a Masters of Science in Accounting from the University of Connecticut. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance from Fairfield University.
Jairaj 'JC' Chetnani
Vice President, Corporate Development and Treasurer
Jairaj ‘JC’ Chetnani, a seasoned treasury executive with experience across a wide range of treasury disciplines, joined Kaman in 2013. In this role, he plays a crucial role in Kaman’s development and future growth.
Prior to joining Kaman, Chetnani served as Vice President and Treasurer at Quanex Building Products, a $1 billion building products manufacturer, where he was a member of the core leadership team.
Chetnani also previously served as Treasurer at SunEdison (formerly MEMC Electronic Materials), an S&P 500 leader in the manufacture and sale of semi-conductor wafers and solar products with operations in Asia and Europe.
Before assuming his role at SunEdison, he was Assistant Treasurer at YRC Worldwide (formerly Yellow Roadway Corporation), a Fortune 500 transportation services provider. Over the course of his career to date, Chetnani has also held a variety of increasingly responsible positions at organizations both within the United States and India.
Chetnani received his MBA from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, and is a CFA charterholder. He also earned his Master of Management Studies degree from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai, India, and his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Jai Hind College in Mumbai.
Vice President, Tax
John Michelon Jr. serves as Vice President of Taxation for Kaman Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for all areas of taxation, including financial reporting, compliance, planning, risk management and the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Michelon has a diverse background with experience in the retail, manufacturing, banking and insurance industries. Prior to joining Kaman in August of 2021, Mr. Michelon worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he served as a tax director within the managed tax services group. He has also served in a number of tax positions with increasing responsibilities at Movado, Praxair, Ann Taylor and General Electric.
Mr. Michelon is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University at Albany – SUNY.
Michael J. Morneau
Vice President - Finance
Vice President – Finance, Michael J. Morneau joined Kaman in 1986 from Coopers and Lybrand. His responsibilities include corporate accounting and consolidations and he is a member of the Company’s financial reporting disclosure committee. Mr. Morneau is a certified public accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the New England Air Museum and serves as Treasurer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Babson College.
Richard S. Smith, Jr.
Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Secretary
Richard S. Smith, Jr., an attorney with over three decades of corporate legal experience, has been Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Secretary since 2012. His areas of responsibility include corporate governance matters; securities law matters; capital market transactions; and mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.
Prior to joining Kaman, Mr. Smith had a 28-year career with Murtha Cullina LLP, where he was a partner and focused his practice on general corporate matters, securities law matters and mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.
Mr. Smith was listed in Best Lawyers in America® for Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Securities/Capital Markets Law from 1999-2012, he was also listed in both the Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers from 2008-2012. Best Lawyers® named him Hartford Lawyer of the Year in 2011 for Mergers and Acquisitions Law and in 2012 for Securities/Capital Markets Law.
He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1984 and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy Studies and Economics in 1981 from Duke University.
Rebecca F. Stath
Vice President and Controller
Rebecca Stath was appointed Vice President and Controller effective September, 2021. She is responsible for general accounting, SEC Reporting and Investor Relations as she continues to advance compliance efforts while driving improved operational performance. Stath joined Kaman in 2011 serving as Internal Audit Manager prior to her role in financial reporting and compliance. She is a graduate of the Kaman Leadership Development Program and began her career in assurance at KPMG. Ms. Stath holds a Masters of Science in Accounting from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from Central Connecticut State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Connecticut.
